Terms of Service

1. About the Service

Segim is a memorization platform powered by cognitive-science retrieval practice and the FSRS (Free Spaced Repetition Scheduler) algorithm. Features include card creation, AI grading, schedule optimization, statistics, and import/export, available on both web and mobile.

2. Eligibility

• You must be at least 14 years old, or a minor with verifiable parental/guardian consent
• You must agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy
• You must register with a valid email address

3. Your Account

• You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials (email and password)
• Sharing, transferring, or selling accounts is prohibited
• If you suspect unauthorized access, change your password immediately and notify us

4. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Impersonate others or register with false information
• Upload content that infringes third-party rights (including copyright)
• Reverse-engineer the Service or perform automated crawling/scraping
• Abuse APIs (circumvent rate limits) or attack system vulnerabilities
• Bypass or tamper with advertising, payment, or entitlement checks
• Upload child sexual abuse material, hate speech, or illegal content
• Use the Service for spam, viral marketing, or phishing

5. Free and Paid Tiers

The Service offers a Free tier and a paid Pro subscription.

• Free: manual card entry, import, FSRS scheduler, and basic grading are available. AI-powered card generation is not included. Advertising is shown
• Pro: ads removed, 30 AI generations per day, AI image generation, and other premium features
• Pricing, billing periods, and feature details are shown on the in-app pricing page and each app store listing

6. Billing and Auto-Renewal

• Mobile subscriptions are processed through the Apple App Store or Google Play and governed by the respective store's terms
• Web subscriptions are processed through PortOne and support major Korean credit cards and bank transfers
• All subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the next billing date
• Cancel via your app store's subscription management screen (mobile) or the in-app subscription page (web)

7. Refunds

• Mobile in-app purchases: refunds follow the relevant app store's policy (Apple / Google)
• Web purchases via PortOne: full refund available within 7 days of payment if the Service has not been used (compliance with Korean e-commerce law)
• Partial-use refunds are evaluated on a case-by-case basis at the operator's discretion

8. User Content

You retain ownership of decks, cards, images, PDFs, and other content you create or upload ("User Content"). You grant the operator a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, back up, and sync User Content as required to operate the Service.

You represent that your User Content does not infringe third-party rights, and you are solely liable for any violation.

9. Our Intellectual Property

All rights in the software, UI design, the Segim trademark and logo, documentation, and algorithm implementations belong to the operator. You may use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes; reproducing, distributing, or creating derivative works of these assets is prohibited.

10. AI-Generated Content

The Service uses external AI providers (e.g., Google Gemini API) to generate cards, examples, and images. AI output may contain errors; you are responsible for reviewing content before studying it. AI-generated images must comply with the content policies of the underlying model provider.

11. Service Changes and Availability

• We may modify, add, or remove features to improve or maintain the Service
• Material changes are announced in-app or by email at least 7 days in advance
• Service may be temporarily unavailable due to system issues, force majeure, or legal requirements; we are not liable for such interruptions absent willful misconduct or gross negligence

12. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

• The Service is provided "AS IS" without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, data accuracy, or uninterrupted availability
• You are responsible for backing up critical learning data (use the Export feature)
• To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability is capped at the total subscription fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim
• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages

13. Termination

• You may delete your account at any time via in-app settings
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that materially violate these Terms, after notice where practicable (immediate termination allowed in urgent cases)
• Remaining subscription balances upon termination follow the refund policy in Section 7

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Any disputes arising from the use of the Service will be exclusively handled by the court with jurisdiction over the operator's address, as the court of first instance.

15. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms for legal or operational reasons. Material changes will be announced at least 7 days in advance (30 days when adverse to the user). If you disagree, you may terminate your account.
